Drug Paraphenalia Cleanup

According to the City of Ottawa, more than 6.0 million needles are being used annually for medical reasons alone. Add the number of intravenous drug users and their paraphernalia and it is not uncommon to see items which have not been disposed of properly. City of Ottawa By-law 44-96 states that you cannot flush needles, syringes, or glass stems down the toilet or put them in the garbage or recycling box.

Most “found” syringes have been used and may have contaminated blood that carries hepatitis B and C, HIV and other diseases. Care should be exercised as these potential hazards may be found anywhere including public or private areas and in and under harmless objects.

Children in high risk areas should be instructed to never touch syringes, needles, or any other item they do not recognize and to advise an adult where the items are.

One Call Services can respond quickly and discreetly to ensure the safety of your property and your visitors.
